Wednesday is hands down the best day of the week for me! Every Wednesday the amazing Kristy Lee of Scrapbooksteals.com posts a new sketch. Anyone that wants to participate has the chance to try their hand at the sketch. Then post a link to it on the blog for a chance to win a scrappy prize! My 5th project was based on the first sketch in the Topaz series. Here is the sketch,
and here is how I interpreted it.
One of my last purchases before this challenge was Echo Park's Victoria Garden. I am absolutely in love with this line! (As I am with all Echo Park!) I didn't have the color cardstock I was looking to use for the background so I glimmer misted plain white cardstock with Tattered angels, Sand, glimmer mist. The green "lace" design behind the photo is plain cardstock that I cut out with my Silhouette SD. The lace border was actually from an old shirt that didn't fit me anymore. I really wanted to add some lace and since I didn't have any and could buy any, I went into my closet! Also the yellow border was a bit of a tragedy. While working on a different project I was enjoying a glass of red wine and of course had paper all over my desk. One quick move of my hand and red wine was everywhere. I'm not sure what was worse that it spilled across the whole sheet of paper or that it was the last of my wine!
Anyway I let the paper dry, thinking surely I could still find some use for it, and I was right! While looking at my layout trying to decide on the perfect borders to add, I had the idea to fussy cut a border out of the wine stained paper. So the portion of the yellow border that's covered up is covered because there is a big wine splotch! Never a scrap of paper wasted in this house!
